The story of "The Circle" is set in the future, where Mae, played by Emma Watson, works for a giant internet technology company called "The Circle." This company connects all users' personal information with its operating system, thereby ushering in a new era of the internet. Mae meets a mysterious colleague named Kalden at the company and falls in love with him. Kalden, played by John Boyega, is one of the founders of the company and, through his genius, created this system; he ultimately realizes the invasion of personal privacy by "The Circle" and wishes to shut it down. Karen Gillan, one of the main stars, also works at "The Circle," appearing somewhat awkward but possessing a very high intelligence. Tom Hanks' current role has yet to be confirmed, but he is likely to play another behind-the-scenes boss of the Circle company. The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by author Dave Eggers (screenwriter of "The Circle"). Eggers will also serve as a co-producer of "The Circle," which is tentatively scheduled for release in 2016, with a specific date yet to be announced.
