The crime drama "Dalgliesh," produced by Acorn TV in collaboration with Channel 5, stars Bertie Carvel, known for "Doctor Foster," in the title role. The first season consists of 6 episodes, with 2 episodes per story, and production will begin in Northern Ireland in December. This series is created by an all-female team and adapted from P.D. James's series of novels "Inspector Dalgliesh Mysteries." It will trace Dalgliesh's career in crime-solving from England in the 1970s to the present day, with each story focusing on him solving an unusual murder case set in different locations and featuring various guest characters. The three stories in the first season are adaptations of: "Shroud for a Nightingale," concerning the death of a trainee nurse; "The Black Tower," investigating an unusual home for the disabled; and "A Taste for Death," where a homeless pensioner and a cabinet minister are found dead in a church. The original series consists of 14 books, first published in 1962, with the last one published in 2008. The series has been adapted for the screen multiple times.
