In the 1940s, under fascist German rule in Romania, partisan and anti-fascist resistance groups constantly attacked enemy docks, stations, and bridges. With the front lines tightening, the rulers could not find a captain to transport ammunition to the front. Meanwhile, the resistance was troubled by a lack of weapons, and underground member Toma (played by Petrescu) infiltrated a prisoner convoy at the docks to board a ship carrying ammunition.
