The story revolves around the four top skilled protectors of the emperor (played by Zhang Daming): Ling Ling Gong, Ling Ling Xi, Ling Ling Fa (played by Stephen Chow), and Ling Ling Cai. Though Ling Ling Fa is called one of the four masters, he is merely skilled at small inventions and has no martial arts ability. After failing to capture the four strange heroes of the Jianghu as ordered by the emperor, he is expelled from the palace. Back home, Ling Ling Fa opens a gynecology clinic and often uses his inventions to please his wife (played by Carina Lau), leading a relatively content life. The kingdom tricks the emperor out of the palace under the pretense of a “celestial being” corpse and attempts to kill the three top protectors guarding him. At a crucial moment, Ling Ling Fa saves the emperor’s life with his inventions of a “helicopter” and a “machine gun.” Undeterred, the enemy sends a famous courtesan, Qin Cao (played by Li Ruotong), to tempt Ling Ling Fa, who along with his wife, cleverly turns the tables on them.
