The nine major families guarding Changsha are known as "The Old Nine Doors," a name that is widely recognized. Among them, the leader of the nine doors, Zhang Dafuye Zhang Qishan (played by Chen Weiting), is tasked with investigating the mystery of the ghost car and the mysterious mine. He brings along his partner Qi Tiezui (played by Ying Haoming) and seeks help from the famed Peking opera singer Er Yuehong (played by Zhang Yixing), who was born into an archaeological family. Unfortunately, Er Yuehong has already retired to care for his critically ill wife, Yatou (played by Yuan Bingyan).
To coax Er Yuehong back into action, Zhang Qishan and Qi Tiezui travel north to the Xinyue Hotel to seek medicine for Yatou. Afterward, Zhang Qishan meets the young lady of the Xinyue Hotel, Yin Xinyue (played by Zhao Liying), and feelings gradually develop between them. Although Yatou ultimately dies, Er Yuehong unexpectedly discovers an intricate connection between the mine's mystery and his family's ancestors, revealing a shocking conspiracy planned by the Japanese.
