The reboot of the classic children's comedy film "Home Alone," titled "Home Sweet Home Alone," has announced its release date: it will exclusively premiere on Disney+ on November 12 this year. The film stars the highly praised young actor Archie Yates from "Jojo Rabbit," along with Ellie Kemper ("Bridesmaids," "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"), Rob Delaney ("Catastrophe"), and others. Rather than a remake of the original story, this film presents an original story with a changed title. The promotional materials refer to it as a "reboot of 'Home Alone'" due to the similar concept. The original "Home Alone," released in 1990, tells the story of Macaulay Culkin's iconic character, the young boy "Kevin," who is accidentally left home alone by his parents and has to deal with intruding burglars. This new version follows a couple, played by Kemper and Delaney, who attempt to steal a valuable family heirloom from the Mercer household, while Yates plays a "mischievous and resourceful" boy who is the Mercer child left home alone as his parents travel to Japan, protecting the house from thieves. Directed by Dan Mazer ("Borat Subsequent Moviefilm"), with a screenplay by SNL writers Mike DeSe and Streeter Seidell.
