In the early years of the Republic of China, the world was in turmoil. Young Weslie (played by Wu Qilong) is an adventurous orphan, raised by his master Mu Tian'en (played by Du Hongjun), on a mission to protect the royal ancient tombs of the Qing Dynasty. The discovery of a sarcophagus in a secret chamber of the tomb sparks a scramble among various forces, and the young lady inside the sarcophagus, dressed in a golden silk robe, becomes a mysterious enigma. Weslie meets Bai Su (played by Yang Guang), the daughter of Boss Bai, and is astonished to discover that the woman in the sarcophagus is Bai Su's mother; the sarcophagus is actually a time-traveling vessel. As they face life-and-death challenges in one adventure after another, Weslie and Bai Su develop feelings for each other. With the help of Bai Su and her brother Bai Qiwei (played by Yu Bo), Weslie uncovers more and more supernatural phenomena, which seem closely connected to the mysteries of his own origins. The film is adapted from the sci-fi novel series of the same name by Ni Kuang.
