At the end of the Tang Dynasty, the Censor Li Zhonghan faced the extermination of his family after investigating corrupt officials. His wife, Sister Li, along with their family, fled south with the refugees. They crossed the Yellow River and Poyang Lake, climbed over Wuyi Mountain, and arrived at Geteng'ao, located at the border of Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangxi. The son of the corrupt official, Guo Mang, believing the slanders of the eunuch Tian Lingzi, took the Li family as his father's enemies and pursued them to Geteng'ao, waiting for a chance to take revenge.
The Li family and the Han migrants experienced severe conflicts with the local mountain people during their production and daily life, which led to a deep emotional bond. Luo Sheng and the Seventeenth Lady faced many trials but eventually became a couple. Guo Mang attempted to kill Sister Li, only to be saved by her instead. Due to Wumao Tang and Erleng's previous dealings with Huang Chao, Geteng'ao was attacked by Tang troops. The Han people and the mountain people united against a common enemy and repelled the Tang soldiers. Li Zhonghan died in a vain attempt to admonish Emperor Li Ye of the Tang Dynasty. Li Ye revoked his orders and granted Geteng'ao to the refugees, allowing the Han migrants to prosper and pass on their legacy there.
