In a small city in Hokkaido, Okuzumi (played by Tetsuji Tamayama), who works at the city hall, is traveling deep into the forest with colleagues. Recently, an abandoned car was found in this area, containing the bones of a middle-aged man and a dog. Aside from a few receipts from the journey, there are no documents inside or outside the car to prove the man's identity. Examination of the bones reveals that the dog died six months after the man. Having raised dogs in his childhood, Okuzumi becomes curious about the man's story and decides to investigate the starting point of the deceased's journey in Tokyo, funding the trip himself. Along the way, he picks up a local girl, Yuki (played by Maho Kawashima), who secretly ran away to Tokyo for auditions. Using shopping receipts as clues, they follow the trail of the middle-aged man “Maeda” (played by Toshiyuki Nishida) and his beloved dog Happy.
