The drama tells emotional stories of several families, and surprisingly, every family is in the midst of a divorce (or a breakup for cohabiting couples). This inevitably raises the question: Have familial marital relationships in real life become this fragile? Is the divorce rate this high? A friend who has been following the series and watched several episodes recently expressed her frustration, saying she was initially eager to watch a romance drama, but now she simply cannot continue. “The plot is too detached from reality! Where is there a daughter who desperately tries to break up her own family, insisting on bringing in her parents' lovers from before they were married, just to get everyone divorced, causing chaos and then reassembling two families!” This daughter is indeed very unconventional, but it is simply unacceptable. And the parents actually let this little daughter play them around, resulting in divorces and re-marriages, which is just like children playing house. The protagonists, Xie Xiaohua and Wu Qiaoyun, are quite the characters themselves; after their divorce, they both remarried and then wanted a divorce again, only to remarry yet again, which leaves people baffled (how much additional workload must the civil affairs department have?!). The plot is detached from life and, regardless of the circumstances, it’s hard to evoke emotion; the characters are busy with their divorces and marriages while we laugh at them on the sidelines.
