This film is based on a true story, depicting the bloody vendettas of the New York Mafia and revealing the so-called "code of the underworld" as the ugliness and greed of human nature. Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) was unskilled from a young age, following boss Paulie and relying on protection rackets, smuggling, and robbery. He married the beautiful Karen, had a lovely daughter, an alluring mistress, luxury cars, and a mansion, living a life of affluence. Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro) and Tommy (Joe Pesci) are Henry's close friends, and together they experience many things: killing the Italian Mafia boss Billy Batts who humiliated Tommy; planning the Lufthansa heist and eliminating accomplices to steal the loot; even dealing drugs behind their boss Paulie's back. Of course, besides enjoying the power that money brings, their lives are filled with instability: Tommy is gunned down because of Billy Batts' death; Henry himself is arrested by the police for drug dealing, and others also get implicated. Karen does everything she can to bail Henry out, but by then they have lost everything, become isolated, and are surrounded by crisis. They must find ways to survive, no matter what it takes or what the cost...
