The Marco Polo Bridge Incident, the second collaboration between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, brothers join forces in Laicheng to resist the enemy, ward off humiliation, and ultimately, outnumbered, they are captured and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. In the camp, the brothers unite people from both the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, striving to transform a dead end into a hope for life. After a successful escape, the younger brother, Li Zhenchang, suffers from amnesia and takes his older brother Li Zhenwu's place as a Kuomintang officer. This switch causes great pain for both brothers. Each is caught in a dilemma, yet fate brings them together again. During a mission, Li Zhenchang sacrifices himself to save his brother Li Zhenwu. Li Zhenwu ultimately realizes the corruption and incompetence of the Kuomintang and takes up his brother's path to fulfill his ideals and mission.
