In 1782, to oppose the Old Doctrine's influence, Joseon's King Jeongjo investigated corruption throughout the land and appointed Choi Je-geun (played by Kim Myung-min) as an inspector, who became an outstanding detective in Korean history. A household was murdered for exposing corruption, and Choi Je-geun cleverly identified the true culprit suffering from color blindness. However, the murderer was soon killed by an unknown assailant using iron needles imported from the Qing dynasty, leaving the case at a standstill. Choi Je-geun then enlisted the help of skilled dog thief Han Se-bil (played by Woo Da-ju) to take on the investigation of the virtuous woman case. The niece of Old Doctrine leader Im Pan-soo, Kim Hyun-young, committed suicide in defense of her chastity. She founded the Aconitum farm, promoting the idea of equality and earning the love of the slaves. After Kim Hyun-young's death, the farm was handed over to the beautiful Han Sang-hang (played by Han Ji-min), who also had intricate connections with the Qing dynasty's iron needles. There was also a significant relationship between Im Pan-soo, who hated the Catholic Church, and Han Sang-hang, intertwining the clues of the corruption case and the virtuous woman case, both pointing toward Han Sang-hang…
