In a desperate future, the world resembles a vast wasteland, with desolation and darkness as far as the eye can see. Human civilization has nearly been destroyed in the apocalypse, and under extreme resource scarcity, survivors resort to anything necessary, even cannibalism, with the entire world presenting a hellish scene. A father (played by Viggo Mortensen) and his son (played by Kodi Smit-McPhee) embark on a never-ending journey. They travel south in search of a warmer refuge, pushing a battered shopping cart that holds all their belongings. The road ahead is long and hope is bleak; the father constantly reminisces about his wife (played by Charlize Theron) and their beautiful past together, while now that beauty is gone, and the future of the father and son remains uncertain... This film is adapted from the work of American novelist Cormac McCarthy.
