This drama is adapted from Xu Guixiang's original novel "The World Under the Horse". During the Great Revolution in 1928, Chen Qiushi, in order to escape an arranged marriage by his father, embarks on a revolutionary path with the help of progressive youth Zhao Ziming, and is sent to the Huangpu Military Academy for military training. Although weak and frail, he possesses considerable strategic talent and grows into a capable general under the guidance of his mentor. Due to differing beliefs, he ultimately parts ways with his mentor. When the Anti-Japanese War breaks out, he leads his troops to achieve remarkable victories despite being outnumbered. However, his arbitrary changes to tactics and disobedience to superior orders result in several demotions, causing his career to fluctuate. After not returning home for seventeen years, his son Chen Sanchuan, whom he has never met, becomes a brave warrior in his unit and refuses to recognize his father out of hatred for his father's past indifference towards his mother. Filled with guilt, Chen Qiushi silently trains and educates his son. Over time, Chen Sanchuan's attitude towards his father begins to change. When the Liberation War breaks out, Chen Qiushi is hit by a shell while protecting his soldiers. At his bedside, the father and son finally recognize each other. They subsequently join forces to create a moving battlefield legend.
