Bruno (played by Jérémie Renier) is a 20-year-old street thug who makes a living through various legal and illegal underground trades. His girlfriend, 18-year-old Sonia (played by Déborah François), also has no legitimate job and survives on a meager allowance they get. During Sonia's pregnancy, they manage to get by by exploiting government policies, but after the baby is born, life becomes challenging again. Fortunately, Bruno seems happy about the new addition to their lives. However, what Sonia doesn't know is that Bruno's happiness is just a facade; he is looking for an opportunity to sell the baby for some income, as he believes he is not capable of taking on the responsibilities of a father.
