Rookie prosecutor Keiichiro Ochiya (played by Kazunari Ninomiya) greatly admires his mentor, Takeshi Mogami (played by Takuya Kimura). After several years of training, Ochiya finally gets his wish to be transferred to the Tokyo District Prosecutor's Office's Criminal Division, becoming a key member under Mogami. Meanwhile, Saho Tachibana (played by Yuriko Yoshitaka) also joins the Criminal Division as Ochiya's secretary, but her true identity is that of an undercover agent aimed at gathering solid evidence about the prosecutor's use of extreme and even illegal methods to secure convictions. Soon, a couple's murder case brings the suspect, Shogen Matsukura (played by Yoshihiro Sakamoto), before Ochiya. Matsukura is a suspect in a case involving the murder of a young girl from 23 years ago; however, due to a lack of evidence, he could not be convicted, and the case eventually fell out of the statute of limitations. A furious Mogami stubbornly insists on bringing Matsukura to justice, pushing Ochiya to go all out towards a predetermined direction. In the face of human nature, no one can maintain 100% justice. This film is based on the novel of the same name by Shusuke Shibuki, published in 2013.
