Ah Ying (played by Mao Shun-jun) and Ah Yeh (also played by Mao Shun-jun) are sisters who are as close as blood relatives, but they are forced to separate due to their parents' broken marriage. Ah Yeh follows her mother to Japan, receives a good education, and grows into a graceful young lady. In contrast, Ah Ying follows her gambling-addicted father and ends up living in poverty. Her father eventually chooses to commit suicide after accumulating a huge gambling debt, leaving Ah Ying to survive in the red-light district as a prostitute. Years pass in the blink of an eye. To search for Ah Ying, Ah Yeh and her husband return to Hong Kong, only to discover that Ah Ying has become a witness to a murder and is being pursued by the killer, ultimately being driven to suicide. To find the murderer of her sister, Ah Yeh decides to impersonate Ah Ying to draw the snake out of its hole, unaware that this act places her at the center of a conspiracy.
