Senior official Brenner (John Travolta) of the "Army Criminal Investigation Division" and his assistant Senshi (Madeleine Stowe) are tasked with investigating a mysterious murder case within 36 hours. The daughter of powerful vice-presidential contender General Campbell (James Cromwell), Elizabeth (Leslie Stefanson), is brutally murdered on a military base. As the investigation deepens, Brenner discovers that Elizabeth, who attended West Point and excelled academically while also being attractive, had an unknown incident in high school and did not have a good relationship with her father. Moreover, General Campbell is not as upright as he presents himself. While uncovering the truth, Brenner also reveals many secrets within the military. Ultimately, the murderer is brought to justice and the case comes to a close.
