Conrad (Florian David Fitz) has a rather stubborn father, Karl (Henry Hübchen), and every time he goes home to visit, Conrad and his wife Marta (Thekla Reuten) have to endure the old man’s various moods and difficulties. Conrad’s son Jonas (Marius V. Haas) also has no affection for his grandfather; he only sees him as a source of money. At the birthday tea party, Conrad's mother, Helena (Leslie Malton), makes a surprising decision: she wants to leave Karl and escape the suffocating long marriage. After that, Karl's life falls into despair; he spends his days numbing himself with alcohol and ends up injuring himself by falling into the pool. To care for his father, Conrad has to move back into the house filled with childhood memories, this time with his son.
