In Japan's Sengoku period, the top warrior Takeda Shingen (played by Tatsuya Nakadai), known as the "Tiger of Kai," follows the creed "Swift as the wind, gentle as the forest, fierce as fire, immovable as a mountain." When Takeda Shingen surrounds the Tokugawa army at Noda Castle, on the verge of conquering Kyoto to achieve his ambitions, he is shot by an enemy sniper and severely injured, nearing death. Before his demise, he leaves a message for his subordinates to conceal his death for three years. His brother, Takeda Shingen (played by Tatsuya Nakadai), finds a double (played by Tatsuya Nakadai), originally a thief who bears a striking resemblance to Shingen, what the Japanese call a "shadow warrior," and he takes on the crucial role. With the support of Takeda Shingen's brother, the shadow warrior transforms from a thief to someone deeply moved by the Takeda family's noble cause, fulfilling his duties wholeheartedly, convincing both Takeda's family and their enemies that he is indeed Shingen himself. However, as the three years near their end, an unexpected event occurs, the shadow warrior is exposed and cast out, while the Takeda family’s destiny also approaches its end...
