19-year-old Andrew (Miles Teller) grows up in a single-parent household and dreams of becoming a top jazz drummer. One night, while practicing at school, he catches the eye of the merciless instructor Fletcher (J.K. Simmons), joining a prestigious band, but begins to pay the price for his pursuit of perfection.
