A film adapted from the autobiography written by Watergate whistleblowers Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. The two are reporters for The Washington Post, and during the Watergate scandal, they tirelessly uncovered the political conspiracy, making both the individuals and events a well-known part of American history. The story begins with five burglars who break into the Watergate office complex to steal. Initially a minor criminal case, it escalates under the investigation of Bernstein (played by Dustin Hoffman) and Woodward (played by Robert Redford), ultimately exposing a major rift directly pointing to President Nixon. From 1972 to 1974, from Nixon’s presidential campaign to his re-election, The Washington Post faced increasing pressure, even receiving threats. Editor Ben Bradlee stood firmly for press freedom and believed in his reporters, allowing Bernstein and Woodward to continue pursuing the truth of the events, with the help of key informant "Deep Throat." After unimaginable twists and hardships, the Watergate scandal eventually led to President Nixon's resignation.
