The elderly veterinarian Mr. Yang tries to find a suitable way out of his cage-like marriage, and the death of his father-in-law becomes the last straw. His father-in-law had struggled with marriage just as he does. His mother-in-law is now a widow but still controls everything. Mr. Yang's wife Olga also firmly believes that she governs their happiness, so Mr. Yang becomes increasingly afraid of following in his father-in-law's footsteps.
