The movie "Dad" is produced by Leyingmeng, co-produced and executed by Fujian Xichuang Film Industry, with Deng Xiangping as the producer and the well-known young director Yang Musheng at the helm of this family ethics drama feature film. The film primarily tells the story of adoptive father Liu Laoshi who embarks on a long journey with his adopted daughter Liu Xiaohua to find her biological parents. Through the twisty path of these two small characters seeking their family, the film reflects issues of human nature, familial love, ethics, and societal reality. In a city in the south, there is a tricycle driver named Liu Laoshi who makes a living by taking fares. He is in his fifties, and his daughter Liu Xiaohua is eight years old, just starting second grade. Liu Xiaohua is the baby girl Liu Laoshi rescued from a garbage bin. Ever since his wife passed away, he and his daughter rely on each other, struggling to make ends meet with his meager income, which supports their daily life and Xiaohua's school fees. Every evening, Liu Laoshi takes his daughter to her "workplace" on his tricycle when she finishes school, then continues to drive for passengers to earn money, while his obedient daughter sets up a small table and diligently does her homework. Although they live on a low income and face financial difficulties, the emotional bond between father and daughter is a warm reliance for each other. However, fate took a turn when one day the doctor informed Liu Laoshi that he was seriously ill. Faced with high medical expenses, the family could not cope. Liu Laoshi thought about his impending death and was filled with sorrow: what would happen to little Xiaohua after he's gone? Ultimately, he decided to take the child to find her biological parents. If blood is thicker than water, then the adoptive father's nurturing over the years has already far exceeded this bond. Liu Laoshi is reluctant to let his daughter leave him, but compared to this reluctance, her future is even more important. Thus, the elderly adoptive father began the journey to find family with his daughter, unexpectedly encountering abduction by human traffickers along the way...
