After the reunification of East and West Germany, the East experienced an immediate decline. Young people who lost their jobs also lost their purpose in life. With a continuous influx of foreign immigrants, conflicts intensified, and hatred spread. In the early 1990s, several cities erupted in xenophobic riots led by neo-Nazis. The backdrop of this film is Rostock during that time.
