Mall security guard Paul (Kevin James) dreams of becoming a police officer, but his hypoglycemia causes him to fail the New Jersey police academy exam yet again. Feeling dejected, Paul returns home where his mother and daughter comfort him and encourage him to find a new love. Paul resumes his mundane daily work: giving directions or being teased by kids in the mall. However, today, he is captivated by Amy (Jayma Mays) at the wig counter. Paul hopes to impress Amy and show his masculinity, but his large frame and somewhat weak constitution constantly undermine his self-esteem. One day, a group of robbers takes over the mall, planning to loot stores and the bank, while Paul, hiding in the arcade, remains oblivious. When he finds himself unarmed facing the robbers, his only option is to run. However, after realizing that Amy has been taken hostage, he decides to risk everything and return to the mall...
