The story takes place in Glasgow in 1973. For the boy James (played by William Eadie), this summer is not easy. The scorching sun makes it hard to find energy, and the large strike by sanitation workers turns the streets into a dump overflowing with rotten garbage. However, these are not the most important issues; what troubles James the most is the death of his friend Ryan (portrayed by Thomas McTaggart), a death that is intricately connected to him. Through James's eyes, we see a filthy world, yet within his confused and hesitating gaze lies a yearning for the future and a desire for love. In a place where no one knows, a young soul is continuously entangled and tempered by pain, and as a price, it will radiate the most astonishing pure light.
