Three women across time and space are connected by a name—Mrs. Dalloway. Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman), living in the suburbs of London in the 1920s, is completing her final novel, Mrs. Dalloway. Walking the line between fiction and reality, she endures tremendous pressure and a sense of confinement, even yearning for death. Laura Brown (Julianne Moore), a housewife in Los Angeles during the end of World War II. Mrs. Dalloway prompts her to constantly question herself about what constitutes a meaningful life. The routine of housework leads her to contemplate suicide. Clarissa Vaughan (Meryl Streep), living in 1990s New York, leads a life reminiscent of Mrs. Dalloway. Her beloved friend Richard, brilliant yet incapacitated by AIDS, struggles with his condition. Kind-hearted Mrs. Dalloway plays the hostess at parties, bringing joy to everyone, yet she cannot dissolve her own loneliness and sorrow. In different times and spaces, the struggle and resistance regarding death deep within them never cease, moment by moment.
