Musician Zhao Liming spent his childhood in a tranquil courtyard in Beijing. He was good friends with a girl from the same courtyard, Su Yu. Su Yu's grandfather was a church organist who taught young Liming music. Soon, Su Yu was taken back to the south by her father, and that winter, Su Yu's grandfather passed away. A few years later, Liming entered a music academy and began his musical career. Su Yu grew up and returned to Beijing for university, reuniting with her childhood friends. She had a romantic entanglement with Zhao Liming and Pu Yang, ultimately choosing Liming. By this time, Liming's songs had become widely popular across the country. Soon, the "Cultural Revolution" began, and Liming was sent to the rural areas of Shaanxi. He was moved by the simple and rugged local culture, accumulating a wealth of musical material. When the "Cultural Revolution" finally ended, Liming's music reached brilliance.
