In 1922, France. The writer Susanna Blanquette (played by Laetitia Casta), suffering from writer’s block, moves to a quiet countryside mansion in search of inspiration, hoping to finish her long-overdue work. However, in this unfamiliar place, Susanna's work shows no sign of improvement; the vast, ancient house is overrun by mice, and the bizarre sights that occasionally appear only exacerbate the already highly strung author's anxiety. In a strange room, Susanna suddenly finds her creativity flowing, writing furiously; however, during this process, she becomes increasingly tense and restless, tormented by various strange sounds and visions that gnaw at her nerves.
