In 1979, the Vatican realized that a baby girl born in New York had a significant connection to the demon Satan. Twenty years later, on December 28, just three days before the turn of the century, Satan (played by Gabriel Byrne) returns to the world in the flesh of a human banker. Former police officer Jerry (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), who has lost his wife and daughter, and his security team are hired by the disguised devil to provide protection. Soon, a priest attempts to assassinate Satan but fails; before dying, he warns Jerry. Following the clues left by the priest, Jerry and his companion find a woman named Christine (played by Robin Tunney), who is destined to conceive with Satan. If Satan can have relations with Christine on New Year's Eve, it will mean the end of the world. Jerry decides to block Satan at any cost, using his humanity...
