The story takes place in a small town in the 1990s, where a series of murders indicate that a cruel and cold-blooded serial killer is lurking in this rainy city, and this person is very likely an insider from a local factory. Yu Guowei (played by Duan Yihong) works in the factory's security department and is known as "Detective Yu" for solving multiple theft cases in the factory. After the murders occur, Yu Guowei feels responsible for contributing to the investigation of the truth, unaware that in the eyes of Criminal Investigation Team Leader Lao Zhang (played by Du Yuan) and Officer Li (played by Zheng Chuyi), he is merely a joke.
