The story follows brothers Zheng Rong and Zheng Liang, who are adopted by the Minister of War, Yang. They become members of the Jinyiwei. Liu Qing, the director of the Eastern Depot, schemes to have the Jinyiwei commander Fang Mingshan send Zheng Rong to assassinate Yang. Zheng Rong regrets mistakenly killing his adoptive father and becomes a witness to take down Fang Mingshan. Zheng Liang uncovers the truth and rescues Zheng Rong, and the two join forces to fight to the death against the Eastern Depot.
