Burton is a lawyer who is commissioned to serve as a legal aid lawyer for an indigenous murder case. He vaguely feels that this death case is strange, but like the incessant rain, he cannot see the state of things clearly. In the director's imagery, the indigenous people represent primal mysticism, and the tribes are described in books as ancient and unknown in relation to urban modernization. The tribal culture is primitive and unapproachable for the colonial Europeans; they have their own ways of dealing with issues and rules of punishment, forming an independent system with echoes of ancient times. However, the white man's system represents European civilization, and this sense of superiority causes them to always regard the indigenous as ignorant and foolish. The whites wish to enlighten them, but this leads to more opposition, as they cannot communicate due to different historical and cultural backgrounds. While Burton handles this case, an indigenous person named Chris, who appears in his dreams, emerges in reality. Is it a premonition or something mysterious? Burton’s judgment becomes lost. To understand the indigenous culture, he invites Chris to his home for dinner. Chris brings a shaman named Charlie, who tells Burton that his future doesn't look good, sending the skeptical Burton into a trance, as nightmares linger, and some dream-related objects appear in reality. Considering himself a civilized person, he yearns to overcome Charlie's sorcery.
