Disheartened by her job, Manhattan-based development company employee Julie Powell (played by Amy Adams) decides to spend a year attempting all 524 recipes in America's most beloved TV chef Julia Child's (played by Meryl Streep) first cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking," and documents her daily progress in a blog. Meanwhile, the film parallels Julia Child's life with her husband, Paul Child (played by Stanley Tucci), as they move to Paris in 1948, where she learns to cook and eventually publishes the over 700-page "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" after ten years of struggle. In her journey of emulating Julia Child, Julie Powell ultimately finds herself, and as her blog gains popularity, even Julia becomes aware of Julie's existence, but the outcome is not what Julie expected.
