The over-seventy-year-old Director of the FBI, Edgar Hoover (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), narrates his autobiography at the invitation of "Crime Documentaries." Hoover shares with the ghostwriter of his memoir significant events in his life since 1919: arresting leftist leaders, capturing notorious gang bosses, solving the shocking Lindbergh kidnapping case, and more. Based on Hoover's account, he boldly reorganized the FBI, introduced high-tech investigative methods, and worked tirelessly for the peace and stability of American society. However, on the other hand, his personal life became a part he desperately wanted to conceal. As Hoover reflects on his life, numerous turbulent factors remain present in American society. His long-time personal assistant, Clyde Tolson (played by Armie Hammer), also seems to have an unusual relationship with him...
