The film is adapted from the novel "Love in West Lake" by Wang Xufeng, a winner of the Mao Dun Literature Prize. Set against the backdrop of "Liu Lang Wen Ying," one of the ten scenic spots of West Lake, it mainly tells the story of two girls from a Jiangnan Yue Opera troupe and a painter in the 1990s.
