During the Korean War, in a remote mountain village called Dongmo Village near Gangwon-do, the people lived isolated from the outside world, leading a self-sufficient life, unaware that a war was happening outside. Korean National Army soldier Jeong Hyun-cheol (played by Shin Ha-kyun) and medic Moon Sang-sang (played by Seo Jae-gyeong) find themselves in Dongmo Village after escaping from camp and getting separated. At the same time, North Korean People’s Army soldier Lee Soo-hwa (played by Jeong Jae-yong), veteran Jang Yong-hee (played by Lim Ha-ryong), and young soldier Seo Jeok-ki also arrive in Dongmo Village. Prior to this, due to a plane crash, U.S. pilot Captain Smith (played by Stephen Thais) had also come to the village. When the soldiers from both sides meet, tension is palpable, but later, they gradually ease the standoff, agreeing to coexist without aggression, although substantial hostility remains. During their interactions with the simple villagers, the soldiers grow accustomed to the peaceful life in Dongmo Village. Later, when the flames of war even reach the village, the soldiers on both sides decide to take on the mission of defending Dongmo Village.
