Adolescence, with its mix of sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy, may have led each of you to make some mistakes during this phase. In the story, Da Ji (played by Luo Liwei) is an unemployed youth from Cheung Chau, while his younger brother, Si Ji, is an outstanding student, causing Da Ji to be looked down upon by his grandmother. He loves to daydream and often idles around the streets with his equally aimless friends, Ah Long (played by Zhang Haolong), May May (played by Wu Riying), Suki (Race), and Da Jiu (played by Huang Haoran), becoming a talking point in the neighborhood. Da Ji's grandmother (played by Roland) wants to teach him a lesson but accidentally falls and wrongly accuses Da Ji of hurting her. Da Ji is forced to "take a shortcut" to Shenzhen with the help of his friends, sparking a significant event in his life... In Cheung Chau, there are five homegrown young people: Suki, May May, Da Jiu, Ah Long, and Da Ji. Although they have different personalities, they share a common fate... they all live under the burden of being looked down upon. Suki's father is part of the mafia, May May's father was imprisoned for bribery, Da Jiu's mother was once a prostitute, Ah Long is a young man who failed in his studies, while Da Ji is the child born from his parents' forbidden love when they were only thirteen or fourteen. During this lost and wandering period of adolescence, the five support each other in love and friendship, facing pressures and shocks from emotions, finances, and family. They are determined and resilient, striving to overcome their circumstances. In this extraordinary adolescence, they first recognize their fate, then accept it calmly, bravely confront their challenges, and ultimately triumph over destiny, living brilliantly—even if no one in the world acknowledges them, even if everyone looks down on them, at least they are themselves!
