This film was shot in 1953 and is adapted from Mark Twain's novel "The Million Pound Bank Note." Two brothers from a wealthy family withdraw a banknote worth one million pounds to test the outcome of a poor man receiving such a large sum. The elder brother believes the banknote is worthless to a poor man, who will end up in misery; while the younger brother thinks he will escape his predicament and live a wealthy life thanks to this banknote. To prove their theories correct, the brothers make a bet. They leave the banknote to a struggling American youth, Henry Adams (played by Gregory Peck), before traveling abroad, leaving Henry in a state of uncertainty about the future. People rush to befriend the suddenly wealthy rarity, offering free meals, clothes, and accommodation, treating him like a beggar and constantly elevating his social status. Moreover, this lucky young man also gains a good wife and earns three thousand pounds in bank interest, leading to a very happy life thereafter.
