During the Republic of China, a wealthy young man from Shanghai, Yu Chengye, was poisoned to death on his wedding night in his new home. Involved in the case are two biological sisters, Meng Xiaomeng and Meng Xiaolu. Meng Xiaomeng (played by Yang Ziting) and Meng Xiaolu (played by Sun Wenting) lost their parents at a young age and were taken in by the Zhu family to work as maidservants. However, the father and son of the Zhu family had ulterior motives and took the opportunity to violate Meng Xiaomeng, leading her to develop a deep hatred for men and complex feelings for her sister Xiaolu.
