During the Iraq War, 19-year-old technical soldier Billy Lynn (played by Joe Alwyn) from Texas becomes famous due to a coincidental video capture. It was a small yet intense skirmish where Billy's squad leader (played by Vin Diesel) was ambushed and taken hostage by local militants. In an attempt to save his squad leader, Billy takes significant risks and charges into battle. The release of the video turns him into a national hero, yet few understand what he and his comrades truly endured. To bury their squad leader, Billy's unit is granted a brief leave, allowing them to attend a football game in Texas. Billy's sister feels deep guilt over a past event and hopes her brother can return to a normal life through this opportunity. Meanwhile, agents, fans, bigwigs, and the general public have various misconceptions about war, patriotism, and soldiers. As the grand festivities kick off in the stadium, Billy and his fellow soldiers feel increasingly heavy-hearted and anxious... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by author Ben Fountain.
