In an era where coal is the main fuel, Kunioka Tetsuzo (played by Junichi Okada) predicts the future potential of oil and quickly starts an oil business in Kitakyushu. Faced with strong opposition from domestic competitors and European and American oil giants, he remains undeterred, using unconventional ideas, high action, and a deep regard for his subordinates to expand into new business territories. Even after Japan's defeat in the war, Tetsuzo's strong resolve never wavers. However, the shocking "incident" that deeply impacts the Japanese people ultimately occurs! When he faces hostility from oil giants and his oil supply routes are blocked, leaving him with no oil to sell, Tetsuzo makes a bold decision—to secretly send the last giant oil tanker, "Nisshōmaru," to Iran to directly import oil. This move is akin to opposing the British, who control Iran. Ignoring his subordinates' objections, he confronts the oil giants and embarks on a difficult battle. Can the Nisshōmaru evade the British fleet and return to Japan safely? And why do people call Tetsuzo a "pirate"?
