In the 11th century BC, ancient Egypt faced multiple difficulties, with the threat of war from the Assyrians and substantial debts owed to Phoenician merchants, bringing the nation to the brink of bankruptcy and the people to poverty. Ramesses XII fell gravely ill and died, and his son Ramesses XIII was proclaimed heir to the throne. To prevent Egypt's rapid decline, the young Ramesses XIII decided to seize the treasures stored in the temple for generations and use them for social reform and to wage war against the Assyrians. However, the clergy opposed his plans, leading to a political and religious struggle between the priests and the young pharaoh.
