In the 1960s, amid economic prosperity, northern Italy was constructing the tallest building in Europe, while at the other end of the country, young speleologists were exploring Europe’s deepest caves in the unspoiled heart of Calabria. For the first time, humans would visit 700 meters below the surface at the bottom of the Furlo Abyss. The local villagers did not notice the group of explorers, but an old shepherd from the Pollino plateau began to see his solitary life intertwining with their adventures.
