Kind-hearted Lianhua takes Alan in and cares for him devotedly. Over time, the two grow closer. Lianhua hopes that after Alan recovers, he will take her back to America, but family changes prevent Alan from considering Lianhua, and he hurriedly returns home. After Alan leaves, Lianhua discovers she is pregnant with his child. Despite the opposition and mockery of others, Lianhua decides to give birth and raise the child alone. During this time, she writes countless letters to Alan, but they go unanswered. Finally, Alan reappears before Lianhua, but also accompanied by his wife.
