The film faithfully documents the real lives of local prostitutes in Thailand's "fishbowls," the slum brothels of Bangladesh, and the red-light district of Mexico. There are no performances or pretenses; the shots reveal their painful and helpless lives, the dignity stripped away by discrimination, and the struggles and efforts of mutual understanding. The film does not evaluate the actions and behaviors of these prostitutes from a moral standpoint, but rather provides an observational perspective that allows the audience to closely understand the sex industry and their living conditions. These deeply moving narratives and truths explore the culture of prostitution and its value through the lenses of gender, marriage, and religious beliefs. The documentary "The Glory of Prostitutes," directed by Austrian filmmaker Michael Glawogger, is the final part of the "Globalization Trilogy," which also includes "Megacities" from 1998 and "Workingman's Death" from 2005. The film was nominated for the Horizons section of the 2011 Venice Film Festival and won the Jury Prize.
