Adapted from the novel "Beautiful Friend" by Guy de Maupassant, known as the "king of short stories." Veteran George Duroy (played by Robert Pattinson) arrives in Paris alone after serving in Africa and lives a hard life working various jobs at the railway department. By chance, he reunites with an old comrade, who helps him get a job as an editor at "Le Vie Française."
