After his wife attempts suicide, Nikola, a temporary worker, is forced to have his two children taken away from him and placed in foster care. Initially, this was just a temporary arrangement, but after assessing Nikola's living conditions, the director of the social welfare office in a small Serbian village believes Nikola is too poor to provide a good living environment for his children. The reserved Nikola decides to appeal to the Belgrade Ministry of Social Affairs and sets off on a 300-kilometer walk to the capital to demonstrate his determination to make significant efforts for his children. Director Golubović tells this unequal story through real and moving images. The protagonist, Nikola, not only measures the country with his calm and resilient character but also explores the boundaries between right and wrong. This tenacious father is determined not to succumb to despair and embarks on a heroic journey that redefines the word "hero."
